West Dean Parish Council has the power to award grants to organisations for a specific purpose that will benefit the Parish or residents of the Parish, and which is not directly controlled or administered by the Council. The Council awards grants, at its discretion, to Parish organisations which can demonstrate a clear need for financial support to benefit the Parish by:

  • Providing a service
  • Enhancing the quality of life
  • Improving recreation and/or sports
  • Improving the environment

Previous grants have been awarded for example; to provide specific equipment for playgroups and parish sports teams, to fund improvements to village halls, and to fund activities for teenagers living in the parish.

The Council has £30,000 available for grants in the year 2017-18. This amount is released in two equal halves over the year. Summer awards for 2017 will be awarded at the end of June, and applications may be made up to noon, Friday 2nd June 2017. The winter awards will be made at the end of November. This notice will also be displayed on parish notice boards and in the local press.
